Last night (3/1) was another showdown in Saginaw. The Lady Chargers took on the Heritage Hawks in another nail biter. Playing in Districts is a challenge, but playing 4th ranked Heritage within the same month at their home is a huge obstacle. For Dow, the seniors knew that this was their championship but they were struggling. Ellie Taylor, Dow's leading scorer and one of the state's top player was just held to 1-11 in three pointers and both Kaylee Wasco and Nadia Atton were in foul trouble all game. With top seniors in trouble, others had to step up. Maize Taylor and Molly Davis did just that. Maize took full control of the game, shot the ball well, and didn't turn the ball over. Davis contributed with key free throw shots which essentially won them the game. Dow won 37-30, Taylor ended with 13 points and 3 assists, Davis ended with 11, Wasco contributed with 10 points and six rebounds and Ellie still got a team high of eight boards. They continue on to the district final game against Bay City Western on Friday (3/3).
